In addition, we examined the effect on retention that alumina blasting had on the primary and secondary crowns. The two surface roughnesses were smooth and rough. Two types of zirconia were used, Y-TZP and Ce-TZP/A. The coefficient of static friction for Y-TZP when both surfaces were smooth was 0.18. The coefficient for Ce-TZP/A when both surfaces were smooth was 0.17. The coefficient of static friction for Y-TZP when one surface was smooth and the other rough, was 0.18. The coefficient for Ce-TZP/A when one surface was smooth and the other rough, was 0.17. The coefficient of static friction for Y-TZP when both surfaces were rough was 0.31, while this valve for Ce-TZP/A was 0.38.
