Light-emitting diodes with a wavelength of 465 ± 10 nm were used to irradiate S. mutans and GE-1 cells, and the cell viability was measured. The induction of the antioxidant enzyme heme oxygenase-1 was evaluated using quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and western blotting.
